Passive Endorsement

From our friends over at Save The A/G:

"The second part of his answer was no better. When he began to address the homosexual question he remarked rather off-handedly, “Well, when you have people who are born with something that they can’t control…” and then went on. Later in the same statement he appealed to the compassionate hearts of our pastors when he said, “Which one of you, having a lesbian couple in your church with children, would counsel them to separate? Think of the affect it would have on the kids!” I nearly fell out of my chair! Why was I so flabbergasted? Not because some outside guest speaker said something that is obviously outside the witness of Holy Scripture as well as Assemblies of God doctrine, but because he went unchallenged both during or after the council by our District leadership!"

  1. Excellent article, it speaks very clearly and Boldly about the very cowardly habit the AOG has become known for: Far too much Acquiescence (Passive Endorsement) towards those who would sew the seeds of heretical teachings in the AOG.

Its why the AOG seems to just be speeding at an ever increasing rate towards the Emergent and Ecumencial movements that it once stuanchly stood against!

To be a Typical AOG'r now is to be open to to ANY new teaching! Those who stand on historical AOG teachings are now considered the "odd balls"

So an "Odd Ball" I will be!

  2. Very true and sad.

Knowing full well that this will be read by pastors, (whom I would love to see respond instead of lurk ;^)

I see increasingly the attitudinal approach by some A/G'er's of "it's not that bad", "it's not that big of a deal". Truth is sacrificed for unity (a unity that I'm not sure really exists anymore - not at the level it should, at least).

The only thing that seems open season has been declared on is churches that don't meet their criteria of "relevant". Then its OK to make fun of and ridicule them.

Ironically, some of the folks defining 'relevant', have they themselves become irrelevant in the eyes of heaven because of their compromise.

Like the one pastor who stated he was very concerned about how his ministry approach would look to the world - afraid that it would look out-of-date. Wonder if he worries about what his ministry approach looks like to Jesus?

  3. Sorry to keep using this channel, but I've misplaced the e-mail address you gave me:

Fresh post for you over at my place (for you too, John) :)

  4. Pastor E-Train,

Is it coming to this in the AOG? When I got my credentials back in the day, we were encouraged to follow the paths of our founders while blazing a new trail. You know, not compromise our standards and values while utilizing new methods and technologies that are available to reach our world. Methods and technologies change over time, but the basics of God remain the same.

  5. hey phoenix!

what's going on is some ungodly craziness - but don't dare question it or you will be labeled "bully", "prideful", "irrelevant", etc.

Like Dr. James McDonald says, when you stand up for truth - get ready to be called arrogant, among other names.

The thought police are out in full force, sadly.

  6. Let them call me what they want. I'll blaze a new trail in midst of the thought police. At least I will have a clear conscience when I stand before God.

If you remember, I used to be arrogant. So what if a few people that preach tolerance show their intolerance for a view that is different. They may see my views as arrogant, but they destroy their own teaching of tolerance by their intolerance of my views.

Ungodly craziness is right. "But I'll become even more undignified than this "- Can't remember the song or the artist to give credit to for this quote, which is not a personal quote of mine.
